Across the street of the Thai temple is another Buddhist Temple built by the Burmese. Burma Lane, as the name shown, it should be a place where Burmese community gathered. Dhammikarama Burmese Temple is the first Buddhist temple built in Penang. I have no idea how a Burmese temple should looks, but apparently this one in Penang is colorful with many mythical figures and religious icon around the compound.

Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram
I don't know the official name of the temple--Wat Chaiya
Mangkalaram until I search it in the Penang Tourism's
website. We usually call it "The Sleeping Buddha", a
direct translation from Mandarin.Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram
is a Thai Buddhist temple, notable for its Reclining Buddha
statue. Measuring 33 meters in length, the statue is the 3rd
largest in the world.I had been visiting this place everytime
I came back for holidays, tour-guiding friends and my host
family. Same place, different people, nice memory.

Seafood Village--好友
A seafood village at Teluk Kumbar, Penang. You can enjoy a beautiful
sunset at the beach, taking photograph before start the feast. The
place is actually a small kampung quite a distance from the town
erea. Development starts putting its hand there, and traffic jam is
the most significant problem when I visited there 2 weeks ago.
Anyway, I enjoyed the food so much and the price is not that
expensive.

Kek Lok Si Temple 极乐寺
Kek Lok Si Temple, one of the best known temple in the Penang
island. Every year during the celebration of Chinese New Year,
the temple will be lights up with lantern.Praying at the temple
for happiness and prosperity in the coming year is a traditional
for Chinese community in this country.Kek Lok Si Temple
apparently a popular temple which attract many visitor through
its unique architecture, the seven stories pagoda. A bronze statue
of Kuan Yin with 30.2 meters height stands tall at the hill sides
behind the pagoda.I have joined the human's flow this year
bringing along my Japanese friend. Is a wanderful visit,
although i had to stuck in side a traffic jam and had a hard
time finding a parking space.Without a tripod, i really had a
difficult time taking a nice shot for lights up. Out of hundreds, i
only have a few which consider nice. Hopefully i can get a tripod
soon.;)

Hatsumode 初詣
Time flew. It had been two month since 1st of January, when
Japanese celebrate their new year. I won't write more about this
( I wrote one before here ).
Just to share some photos and a few facts here.
*Japanese started celebrate new year on 1st of January during
the Meiji Revolution. They called the traditional new year
"The old new year (旧御正月)"
*Altough 1st of January is in the middle of winter, the Japanese still
using the word "迎春" on their greeting card.
*2007 is the year of pig. But in Japan, 猪(いのしし) for them is wild
pig, 豚(ぶた)is pig. That's means 2007 is the year of wild pig for
them.
